EVENTS / ‘Impact Assessment for Sustainable Development: Knowledge Systems for the Future’

LIAISE (‘Linking Impact Assessment Instruments to Sustainability Expertise’) is a project established as part of the European Commission’s FP7 work programme (2009) as a Network of Excellence (NoE) in order to improve the application of Impact Assessments by both the research and the policy making communities. Its focus was on policy development relating to sustainable development strategies.

Dissemination Conference of the project, entitled ‘Impact Assessment for Sustainable Development: Knowledge Systems for the Future’ will be held on Tuesday 1 April (9.00-18.00) and Wednesday 2 April (9.00-13.00) in Brussels, Belgium.

With this conference LIAISE achieves a double objective:

  1. it contributes to its mission to improve knowledge production as part of impact assessment increasing the relevancy of scientific findings to meet the challenges of a sustainable development
  2. it establishes a Community of Practice for improving research on Impact Assessment for Sustainable Development.

During this conference, LIAISE will share the main lessons learned over the past 4.5 years as a Network of Excellence project, establish the community of practice with the wider community, and design new activities for the coming years, as detailed in the attachment.

The structure of this conference is specifically designed to foster interaction and mutual learning among the different stakeholders interested in Impact Assessment and Sustainable Development. Following short presentations of LIAISE main results and available services, the dissemination conference will be centered around comments from the audience and discussion with interested stakeholders.
