“Prize in Scientific Dissemination 2016”: Antonello Pasini awarded for his blog on climate

Antonello Pasini, climate change specialist at the Institute of Atmospheric Pollution Research of National Research Council (Istituto sull’Inquinamento Atmosferico – Iia-CNR) won the first prize of “The Prize in Scientific Dissemination 2016” (Premio Nazionale di Divulgazione Scientifica 2016) in the scientific blog section.
The award is an important recognition for his blog on climate, “Il Kyoto fisso“. Posted since 2007 on the online version of Italian financial newspaper “Il Sole 24 ore” and since 2012 on the online version of the monthly magazine”Le Scienze”, the Italian edition of Scientific American, the blog “Il Kyoto fisso” became relevant and is now at the center of the public debate on climate change and its socio-economic implications.

Theoretical physicist, he started to deal with climate modelling in the 80’s. He’s an expert in the field of artificial intelligence and complex systems and in recent years his research focused on climate change.
Moreover, he’s interested in science communication and popularization; he authored three books on climate and climate modelling, he writes on the blog “Il Kyoto fisso” and collaborates with many Italian newspapers and magazines.
Antonello Pasini is also a member of the Italian Society for Climate Sciences (SISC).

The Prize is promoted by the Italian Book Association and is dedicated to all the authors that stood out for their efforts in science communication and popularization to engage public opinion.
