1 Post-doctoral position in ‘Economics of Innovation’

Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) are seeking a motivated and qualified post-doctoral researcher to join our research team. The researcher will work on the INNOPATH project, a recently awarded EU project aiming to use innovation system analysis, stakeholder involvement, case studies, econometrics and integrated assessment modelling to generate new enhanced low-carbon pathways for the European Union.

FEEM is a leading research institute on sustainable development and CMCC is a research institution that manages and promotes scientific and applied activities in the field of international climate change research. FEEM and CMCC offer an invaluable research environment and an interdisciplinary workplace, with diverse skills and an international staff. FEEM and CMCC have strong ties to a worldwide network of research institutions engaged in environmental research and provide excellent opportunities to focus on research, and disseminate results in all major conferences and stakeholders events.

The selected applicant will be based at FEEM/CMCC premises in Milan (Italy) and will work alongside experienced researchers to develop quantitative case studies of energy transitions and econometric analysis of innovation dynamics, productivity and competitiveness. She/he thus will contribute to the assessment of the optimal EU policy response to the energy transition challenge.

The job assignment is expected to begin in January 2017. The contract is for 12 months and can be subject to renewal. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience.

Applicants should have a strong background in quantitative economic assessments, in particular econometric analysis, experience and/or willingness to engage in more qualitative data analysis and research, strong programming skills, and an interest on energy systems. The position is open to recent PhDs, though fresh university graduates or PhD students can also apply for this position. Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge of innovation economics and system approaches and proven research. Experience with R, Matlab, or STATA is an asset.
