How to get Salerno

Salerno is a beautiful city in southern Italy, located on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just south of the Amalfi Coast. Here’s a practical guide on how to reach Salerno by plane, train, car, bus, or ferry.

✈️ By Plane

1. Naples International Airport (NAP) – 60 km from Salerno
Most convenient airport for international and domestic flights.
From Naples Airport to Salerno:

Private transfer: Available with local services or hotels.
Car rental: About 45–60 minutes drive.
2. Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport (QSR) – 20 km from city center
Small regional airport with limited flights (mostly seasonal or charter).
Reach city by taxi, rental car, or shuttle (if available).

🚆 By Train

Salerno is well connected to major Italian cities by high-speed trains and regional trains.
📍 Salerno’s main train station is Salerno Centrale, in the city center.

🚗 By Car

You can reach Salerno via the A3/E45 Motorway:
From Naples: Take A3/E45 south (about 50 min).
From Rome: Take A1 south to Naples, then A3 to Salerno (~3.5 hours total).
From the Amalfi Coast: Use SS163 (very scenic but winding coastal road).
🅿️ Parking in central Salerno can be limited; look for hotels with private parking or public garages.

Long-distance and regional bus companies serve Salerno:
FlixBus and Itabus: From cities like Rome, Naples, Bari, and more.
SITA buses: Connect Salerno with the Amalfi Coast towns.
