The Italian Society for Climate Sciences aims to encourage and promote the involvement of young researchers to contribute to the advancement of scientific research.
To this end, during the Annual SISC Conference, authors under 40 were awarded for papers that, among all the works presented, were deemed particularly worthy in the opinion of the Scientific Committee.
The 2013 SISC Award for young scientists (book vouchers – 500 euro, offered by the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change) was assigned to:
R. Farneti, International Centre for Theoretical Physics
with the paper
ENSO and Pacific Decadal Oscillation: decadal variability driven by tropical-extratropical interactions
Moreover, two honorable mentions went to:
- L. Bakkensen – Yale University, with the paper “The economics of tropical cyclones under climate change: Incorporating the Impact of Global Hurricane Characteristics and Level of Development”
- V. Bacciu – CMCC / UNISS, with the paper “Historical Trends and Future Predictions of Fire Emission Estimation in Italy”
The Award Ceremony took place in the last plenary session of the Conference, September 24, 2013 – h.02.30 pm.
